Sephora Haul (instore, part 1)

Why hello!

I recently took advantage of Sephora's spring beauty insider sale and thought that I would share the bits that I managed to pick up.

With having a beauty insider card I was able to get 15% off all my purchases both in store and online. So, to say the least I did a biiiitttt of damage. whoops! The sale for VIB Rouge members (members who spend over $1000 in a calendar year) goes on until April 11th, 2014 so you may have time to still pick up a few things if you need.

This haul will be of all the products that I picked up in store and I will do a separate post once my online purchases find their way to my mailbox.

Sephora can be quite overwhelming so I like to write a list prior to going of the things that I want to buy. I also like to limit the amount that I spend, unfortunately this is easier said than done!

On with the haul...

This is an overview of everything I purchased (besides the bunny container)

Everyone got this cute black and white striped makeup bag for free with their purchases during the sale. It is rather small, but it is super cute and perfect for when you only have to carry a few small things.

The first two items on my list to pick up were the Orgins face masks. I already own and love Orgin's charcoal mask so I wanted to give the other two a try. I have normal to combination skin and have a tendency to break out when I am under a lot of stress. I thought that these masks would be very useful because with the season change my skin has been a tad dehydrated and right now I am in the middle of exam period and I am prone to getting a few blemishes during this stressful time.

Orgins Drink Up Mask

Orgins Drink Up Mask I have tested this mask a couple times and it is safe to say that I love it! It has a lovely apricot scent and a very light consistency. It feels similar to a body lotion. This mask works quickly to hydrate skin and does not leave it greasy at all. I have noticed a difference in my skin after using this, it felt very supple and hydrated. It contains algae extracts which is what apparently gives the huge "gulp" of hydration. I can see myself repurchasing this in the future.
Orgins Out of Trouble Mask

Orgins Out of Trouble Mask I have only tried this mask once and do not have much of an opinion on it so far. It has a minty scent which I really enjoyed. It also has a thicker consistency than the Drink Up Mask. It is described to, "rapidly responds to problem skin with a three-part plan: sop up oily-shine, slough off sticky, dead cells, and sweep away irksome debris." I felt that it did help my skin feel more refreshed, but I do not feel comfortable publishing any opinions since I only tried it once :)

Both of these masks are recommended to be worn for 10 minutes and contain 100 ml of product.
deborah lippmann Blue Orchid
Deborah Lippmann Blue Orchid Next on my list was to the remaining colours from the deborah lippmann Spring Reveries Nail Collection. My Sephora only had one colour that I did not already own which is this beautiful cool pastel blue shade. This shade is unfortunately now sold out online, but still may be available in some stores. I haven't yet tested this polish, but I am a fan of all the deborah lippmann polishes that I have tried. I find them to be very true to the colour in the bottle, long-wearing, and they are the most chip-resistant polishes I have tried. I am very excited to try this out!
Clinique Take the Day Off Balm

Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm I've had this product in the back of my mind ever since I saw Tanya Burr use it in a skincare video. I was not planning on purchasing it because I have quite a few make up removers at the moment, but with the excitement of the sale I caved and threw it into my basket! I have tried it out only a couple times and I find that you really have to take your time and work it into the skin to remove all of your makeup. I found out the hard way that it is not ideal for taking off mascara :( I ended up using more than I typically would with a cleansing balm. However, the price for 125 ml of product seems to be quite fair, especially when you have a discount!

Anastasia Brow Wiz

Natural brows

Anastasia Brow Wiz filled-in brows
(had to change location because of lighting)

Anastasia of Beverly Hills Brow Wiz This was just a repurchase. I decided to go for a duller shade than what I usually buy. This time I bought Medium Ash (now called Medium Brown) instead of my usual Soft Brown. I think that filling in eyebrows can really help frame your face. My eyebrows are naturally very uneven and I usually just fill in the sparse areas and allow them to take their natural shape. Sometimes I do style them so they look the same and I find that with this product I am able to draw on each individual hair so they can look very natural. The pencil itself has a twist up end on one side where the product comes out and on the other side is a fantastic spoolie for combing through your brows. This is a fantastic product and is always raved about on the internet so I will not say much more.

YSL Rouge Volupté Shine in shade 15 Corail Intuitive

YSL Rouge Volupté Shine I caved and had to purchase this lovely lipstick. It is a gorgeous long-wearing lipstick that is shiny enough that it doesn't need a gloss. I don't have any colours like this and I thought that this coral would be perfect for spring! I bought shade 15 Corail Intuitive which is a salmon-coral with no shimmer and a glossy finish. It is described on Sephora's website as a "smoky soft coral"

Dior Capture Totale One Essential
(100 Point Perk)
Dior Capture Totale One Essential I saw this as a 100 point perk and thought that it looked interesting so I decided to spend some points on it. I have read many reviews of people raving about this product, but I have not yet tried it for myself. It is described as "An exceptionally effective antiaging step that successfully eliminates toxins to intensely regenerate and support natural cell turnover." I have read many reviews by people in their 20s using this product and loving it for reasons besides its anti-aging benefits.

Buxom Full On Lip Polish in Sophia
(100 Point Perk)

Buxom Full On Lip Polish I am a fan of Buxom's lip products in general and this gloss is no exception. I love the soft pink colour, minty scent/taste, and slight tingly feeling. This is definitely a "my lips, but better" type of colour. I am not usually a fan of plumping lip products because I find that they do not often work for me, but with this I actually did notice a slight plumping of my lips (mainly the bottom one). The staying power is nothing to brag about, I find that it normally lasts about 2 hours. While it is on my lips it feels quite moisturizing and once it fades it does not leave them feeling stripped (yay!). For a "free" product it certainly was a win!

That wraps up my Sephora haul (part 1)

Please let me know if you enjoyed this and would like to see a second part where I show my online purchases.

Any critiques and suggestions are kindly welcomed and I would like to thank you very much for reading my first (of hopefully many) blog entries.

  Enjoy the adventure!
